McNary’s Furniture and Restoration began back in 1985 in Dave’s parent’s home garage under the name of The Refinishing Shop. In the beginning Dave’s focus was on kitchen cabinet refinishing and antique furniture restoration. Since then he has been inspired by the natural beauty of wood and the craftsmanship of the vintage Antiques that he restores. 

In 1987 Dave moved The Refinishing Shop into the current building in Historic Old Town Overland Park and has been servicing the Kansas City metro area with a wide range of products and services ever since. Around 1990 he added a retail store front to The Refinishing Shop and became McNary’s Furniture and Restoration. Dave continued to do repair work on antique furniture and slowly evolved into crafting custom farmhouse tables and other custom furniture. Today Dave continues to offer furniture restoration and repair as well as an expanded product line that included Kansas City custom wood furniture builds, reclaimed wood paneling, wood box beams, cabinets, bathroom vanities, hardwood fireplace mantels and shelving.

Refinishing antiques and family heirlooms to preserve for the next generation continues to be the cornerstone of the business. Over the years McNary’s Furniture and Restoration has taken great pride in developing techniques and processes to continuously better serve the needs of its customers. Equally, we take great pride in the sources of our reclaimed and hardwood lumber, utilizing reclaimed woods from across the Midwest and sourcing hardwood lumber from small local mills has allowed us to create a reliable network of suppliers of great quality woods.

McNary’s Furniture and Restoration has worked with residential and commercial clients for over 35 years.  The business has been able to grow based on our repeat customers and support from the local community.  Each project means something to us, and so do the customers we serve.  Cheers to another 35 years!
